Flatcoats are beautiful!

Dog shows in the northwest attract flatcoat competitors from all over the western US and Canada. The Northwest Flat-Coated Retriever Club supports entries at several shows a year and in 2014 the Club hosted the National Flatcoat Specialty show in Albany, OR. These events are wonderful opportunities to learn about flatcoats as well as to meet breeders and enthusiasts. Shows are also an important venue for exchanging gossip and planning future litters! Flat-coated retrievers have received considerable international publicity in recent years. A Swedish flatcoat named ‘Dublin’ won Reserve Best in Show and Best Gundog at the prestigious 2015 Crufts Show in England and in 2011 a Scottish flatcoat named ‘Jet’ beat over 21,000 dogs to win the Crufts Best-in-Show crown.

Information on NWFCRC-supported events and recent results can be found in the club news blog. Many of the regional shows are managed by professional superintendents including BaRay and Onafrio whose websites have details on upcoming shows, entry forms and results from past shows.watson1
